Conditions of true friendship. + Task 3: Answer the questions. * Answer key 1. The first quality for true friendship is unselfishness. It tells us a man who’s concerned with only his own interest and feelings can’t be a true friend. 2. Changeable and uncertain people are incapable of true friendship because they aren’t constant: they first take up something with enthusiasm (sự hăng hái, nhiệt tình), but they soon feel tired of it and quit it up. * Hangman * Rub out and remember - Ss work in pairs. - T gives Ss the correct answer. - T guides Ss to do the task 1 - Ss work individually after reading. - T corrects Ss’ mistakes. - T asks Ss to read the passage and do the task 2. - Ss work in groups. - T gives Ss the answer. - T asks Ss to read the passage again and answer the questions in the text book - Ss work in groups and then they perform their answers on the board. 3. There must be a mutual trust between friends because if not, people cannot feel safe when telling the others their most secrets. 5. Talkative people can’t keep a friend long because they can’t keep a secret, either their own or those of others. 6. The last quality for true friendship is sympathy (sự thông cảm). It tells us that to be a true friend, you must sympathize with your friend, because where there’s no mutual sympathy, there’s no true friendship POST READING: * Discuss the question: “Why do we need to have friends?” => Because we can’t live alone. We must live with others. We need to have someone to share our inner (thầm kín, bên trong) secrets as well as joy or sorrows or ups and downs in life.
